DURABLE Hunke & Jochheim GmbH & Co. KG, based in Iserlohn (Germany), a major medium-sized, family-owned enterprise, is rapidly approaching its 100th anniversary. In 1920, Karl Hunke and Wilhelm Jochheim established the company to manufacture high-quality product solutions for the working environment of people in offices, at home and during travel, as well as equipment for buildings. Since then, DURABLE has developed into a leading brand of office equipment operating with a workforce of just under 700 staff members and five production facilities in Germany, the Netherlands and Poland. DURABLE is the inventor of DURACLIP®, clip folders, the solution for filing documents without punching. This gives DURABLE a place among German standards and makes DURACLIP one of the 20th century’s leading brands. The port folio of the “powerhouse of ideas made in Germany” also include orientation and presentation systems, desk and computer accessories, office furniture, self-adhesive products and storage systems.
With the founding of its first subsidiaries in England and Sweden in 1980, the company expanded into international markets at an early stage, where it is operating successfully to this day with subsidiaries in Austria, Benelux, France, Sweden, the UK, Poland and the USA.
DURABLE’s growth strategy is based on the continuous renewal and expansion of its product portfolio. With its competence for organising office work developed over 90 years, the company is now expanding into the market of workplace lamps and introducing an innovative, premium-class LED lamp system under its new brand of LUCTRA. Outstanding characteristics of DURABLE products are practical problem-solving and lasting sturdiness combined with high quality standards in design. DURABLE has won more than 50 well-known enterprise and design awards over recent years, among others, the company is a multiple “Red Dot Design Award” winner.
