Implementation: January 2019

The Musical Academy was founded by Gustav III in 1771. It is the oldest yet existing musical academy in northern Europe. Since this is a historic building with many original details the importance of keeping and caring is truly high.

The Musical Academy was founded by Gustav III in 1771. It is the oldest yet existing musical academy in northern Europe. The Academy presents several awards to prominent musicians and composers for a unique act and a strong personal artistry. They also strive to make our musical cultural heritage accessible to audiences, musicians and researchers. During the latter part of the 17th century, a number of palaces were built on Blasieholmen, which became the capital’s most exclusive district. The palace was completed in the 1670s. The arched stairs hasn’t changed since then. The Academy’s premises - mainly on the second floor are well preserved. A renovation at the end of the 1990s, made the interior an uniform look from the 19th century.
